HyperGate DIN

HyperGate DIN

HyperGate DIN is an embedded gateway device that allows the on-line management of Smart Locks over the Bluetooth protocol. This section will describe the operation and configuration of Sofia HyperGate DIN, which allows you to build completely online and wireless access control systems based on ISEO Argo Smart Locks. The HyperGate DIN device allows you to remotely update the lock memory (white-list), authorizing or deactivating new users, cards and smartphones. In addition, HyperGate DIN allows remote opening of a Smart Lock, as well as reading the lock history via browser or smartphone device remotely.

Unlike previous gateways, HyperGate DIN is designed for permanent installation on a standard DIN rail (EN60715 compliant, 4 modules), making it well suited to electrical cabinets, technical rooms and structured building installations. It can be powered either via USB-C or directly through Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE), reducing cabling where a PoE network is already available.

Technical features

HyperGate DIN connects up to 5 Smart Locks via Bluetooth 5.0 (with support to 4.0 included), using AES 128-bit encryption with Diffie–Hellman key exchange. Network connectivity is provided by Wireless IEEE 802.11ac (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and by Gigabit Ethernet with PoE support. Firmware can be kept up to date through Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, and communication with the Sofia Cloud is secured by the TLS 1.2 protocol.

  • Connectivity: Wi-Fi (IEEE 802.11ac, 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) and Ethernet with PoE
  • Smart Lock connection: Bluetooth 5.0 (support to 4.0 included), AES 128-bit with Diffie–Hellman key exchange
  • Capacity: up to 5 Smart Locks
  • Indoor range: average 10 m
  • Power supply: USB-C (DC 5.0 V, 3.0–4.0 A, 15–20 W) or Power-Over-Ethernet (PoE)
  • Firmware: Over-the-Air (OTA) updates
  • Mounting: EN60715 DIN compliant – 4 modules
  • Dimensions: 71.3 mm x 90.5 mm x 62 mm; weight ~160 g (~0.36 lbs)

Important note. Bluetooth transmission total distance may vary depending on the HyperGate DIN location and surrounding environment. For example, walls, doors and glazed surfaces can reduce or stop the communication between the Smart Locks and the HyperGate DIN.

Plant structure with HyperGate DIN

HyperGate DIN allows you to build completely online and wireless access management systems based on ISEO Argo Smart Locks. The HyperGate DIN device allows you to remotely update the lock memory (white-list), and authorize or deactivate new users, cards and smartphones. In addition, HyperGate DIN allows remote opening of the passage, as well as reading of the lock history via browser or smartphone device remotely.

HyperGate DIN uses Bluetooth 4.0 and 5.0 connectivity to bring online the gates on which an ISEO device from the Argo line has been installed. In a typical Sofia Locks access management system the cloud platform provides centralized security, the smart locks of the ISEO Argo line provide the physical access points, and the HyperGate DIN devices make it possible to connect the locks to the Internet. The role of the gateway is to receive commands from the centralized cloud system and send them to the lock on which you want to act: for example, you can send an opening command, add a badge (or a PIN) to the lock’s memory (white-list) or request to read the access logs.

HyperGate DIN installation

Mount the HyperGate DIN on a standard DIN rail (EN60715) and connect it to power, either through the USB-C input or through a PoE Ethernet connection. Once the HyperGate DIN is turned on it is necessary to use the mobile configuration application Luckey Tools to start the configuration. Below we list the steps to take to correctly configure a HyperGate DIN device.

Warning. To ensure safe and protected use of the Sofia HyperGate DIN, we invite you to install it in a suitable and secure location. Please note that Sofia Locks will not be responsible for any damages or tampering that may occur to the device during use.

Warning – Ports in use. The only ports used by the standard version of the HyperGate DIN are the USB-C power supply and the Gigabit Ethernet PoE port. The other ports are available for customizations and to meet specific customer needs.

HyperGate DIN network configurations

For correct operation, the HyperGate DIN must be correctly connected to an Internet network. The connection can be made either via WPA2 Wi-Fi or via Ethernet (which can also supply power through PoE). In this step it is therefore necessary to set the parameters of the network to which you want to connect the HyperGate DIN. First, select the correct type of connection. If the Wi-Fi type is selected, it will then be necessary to indicate the network name and password. It is possible to configure the network both to work with DHCP and to statically set the various options such as IP and DNS, etc.

Name and PUK Configuration

In this configuration screen it is possible to set the name of the HyperGate DIN, which will be displayed inside the system, and the PUK code. The PUK code is required to perform operations via the device, such as remote opening.

Warning – Avoid PUK Code. You can choose not to require the PUK code on the HyperGate DIN. Please be aware that this solution is not recommended.

Warning – PUK Code. It is very important to keep this code as it is not transmitted in the cloud but remains physically in the device. Sofia does not know and cannot retrieve the PUK, but it is possible for the installer to modify it from the HyperGate DIN edit screen on Luckey Tools.

Association of Smart Locks with HyperGate DIN

The final configuration step is to pair the locks with the HyperGate DIN. The lock association screen shows all the locks visible to the HyperGate DIN via Bluetooth; each lock has a symbol at the top right based on the status of its configuration. By clicking on the lock, you can associate it with the current HyperGate DIN. Once the lock is associated, the image associated with it turns green and by clicking on it you can perform an opening test to check its correct association. Remember that a single HyperGate DIN can be associated with up to 5 Smart Locks.

Warning – Set Locks for Configuration. In order to associate a lock with a HyperGate, the lock must be previously correctly associated with the system.

Warning – Configuration Distance. For the correct functioning of the system, the locks associated with the HyperGate DIN device must be reachable via the BLE connection at a distance of no more than 10 meters from the HyperGate device.

When you have finished, end the configuration from the gateway details section of the Luckey Tools application.

Change HyperGate DIN settings

When a HyperGate DIN is configured correctly it will be shown in the HyperGates section of the Luckey Tools application. By clicking on a HyperGate DIN you will have access to the details menu where you can perform the following actions:

  • Edit Network Setting
  • Edit PUK Code
  • Delete the HyperGate
  • Manage Smart Locks

By clicking on one of these buttons, the same screens described in the previous sections will be shown.

Warning – Edit configurations and Bluetooth range. In order to change the settings of the HyperGate DIN through the Luckey Tools application, the device must be within Bluetooth range, otherwise the installer will not be able to change its configurations. The only action allowed will be the cancellation of the HyperGate.

Delete a HyperGate DIN

It is possible to delete a HyperGate DIN from a system through the detailed configuration menu. There are two ways to remove a HyperGate DIN from a system: Standard Reset and Forced Reset.

Standard Reset

The Standard Reset allows you to eliminate the HyperGate DIN from the cloud system — and therefore from the system and from the memory of the locks associated with it. This is the recommended option and can be used when the HyperGate DIN is operational and connected to the Internet.

Forced Reset

The Forced Reset allows you to delete the HyperGate DIN from the system, but it will not remove the memory of the locks associated with it. This option is recommended in cases where the locks are no longer accessible by the HyperGate DIN, or when the device itself is no longer operational or connected to an Internet network.
