Access Credentials – Cards

The Luckey software allows you to create Card access credentials for your users in a fast and easy way.

The Card Access Rules are those permissions that allow a user to open for a certain period of time, one or more Smart Locks with the use of an RFID Card or an RFID Device like a Key fob. For security reasons, a Card Rule must be assigned to a single User.

Create a Card credential

To create, delete and modify this type of credentials you can go to the Cards section in the Luckey Web Application.

You can easily create a new Card credential by inserting the following piece of information:

  • Card Type: indicated the type of technology of the card
  • Card Number: the unique ID of the card
  • Notes: free text notes to associate with the Card
  • Authorized user: the user to whom the Card will be assigned
  • Smart Locks: The list of doors that users will be able to open with the Card
  • Date interval, time slot, and days on which the rule will be active

Card Type and Technology

When creating a new Card you need to select the type of technology of the Card you want to insert into the system, you can choose between:

  • Generic Card: for RFID Card of the type MIFARE Classic
  • Generic Card DESFire: for RFID Card of the type MIFARE DESFire
  • ISEO Card: is a particular type of RFID Card that usually comes along with ISEO Smart Locks
  • ISEO DESFire: is an ISEO Card based on MIFARE DESFire

The Card type is usually communicated by the Sofia Technical Team during the installation and configuration of the system.

If you have any doubts about the Card Type to select please contact Sofia support.

Card Number

This represents the unique ID of the Card. This information is often printed directly on the card, if not you can use an external USB Card Reader that Sofia can provide you

Authorized User

This field indicates the user that will be associated with the user of the new Card credential. You can select the User by using its Default Tags.

Smart Locks

This field indicates the Smart Locks that the card owner will be able to open with the new Card. You can either use Special Lock Tags or Default Lock Tags for selecting a group or a single Smart Lock.

Date and time

The last piece of information needed to create a Card Access rule is the validity interval of the credential. You will select:

  • a date interval indicating from which dates the credential will be active and usable by the user
  • a time slot indicating at which time of the day the credential will be valid
  • days allowed indicating in which days of the week the credential will be valid

If the user tries to use the credential outside the selected date interval or time slot, or on a forbidden day, he will not be able to open the selected Smart Locks with the new Card.

Cards Synchronization Status

When you add a Card credential to the Luckey Web Platform, the Card information will be propagated from the Sofia Cloud to your Smart Locks on the field.

Depending on your Luckey architecture, this propagation can take place in real-time or after a user interacts with the Smart Lock, specifically:

Propagation Type Smart Locks TypeSystem Type
Real-Time PropagationThe propagation will take place in real time on all your Online Wired Smart Locks or Wireless Locks connected to a Sofia HyperGate Pro. (Standard and Enterprise SystemsStandard and Enterprise System
Opportunistic Propagation In the case of Wireless Offline Smart Locks, the Card will be updated on every single Smart Lock by the first open operation using the Luckey Mobile Application. This operation can be performed by any authorized user for that particular Smart Lock.Easy System

Check this article to find out your system type!

In both cases, you can monitor the status of the Card information propagation on every Smart Lock involved from the Card Details under the tab Synchronization Status.

Synchronization Status of a Card

A Card can be either in one of these two statuses for every Smart Lock:

StatusMeaningActions
Not Updated on this LockThe Card will be in the Not Updated on this Lock status if the Card information has not yet been propagated to that specific Smart Lock. In this status, the Card will not be able to open the door.
Updated on this LockThe Card will be in Updated on this Lock status when the Card information has been synchronized on a specific Smart Lock.in this status, the Card will open that specific Smart Lock

Note: Please consider that when a Card is in Updated status if you update the Card information, the Card will return to the Not Updated status until the last information change has been propagated to the Smart Locks
